“We bought The Old Post Office in late 2020.

Me (Mychael), Lisa – and Izobel.

Izobel, as you can see, likes the countryside. And cake.

And quite by accident really, we inherited two rather lovely, self-contained ‘spaces’ with our new home.

Imagination

We imagined ourselves staying in these tiny-home spaces.

We imagined beautiful, memorable, mind-blowing experiences. The likes of which we’d never experienced before.

And as we’d created award winning businesses all our lives, we moved from ‘imagining’ to ‘doing’ very quickly.

The Brief

The brief was definitely not to create a home-from-home.

It was quite the opposite in fact.

We craved ‘new’ – not ‘samey’.

We wrote down…

“Raise Expectations. Inspire Curiosity. Make Memories.”

And that was that.

The River View Studio

River View Studio, sleeping 4, came first.

Redesigned and rebuilt from scratch in early 2021.

Chainley Burn flows yards from the outside deck, so outside/inside living seemed the obvious thing to do.

An outside riverside bar and riverside dining sprang into life.

Then, we oriented the entire interior design layout to focus on water and wildlife.

The Garden Studio

The Garden Studio, sleeping 6, came next.

A cool, contemporary, playful and airy space – rich with art, gadgets, games and music.

A sturdily built and seductively lit four poster bed is a central feature. As is the picket-fenced garden space, complete with solar chickens, that floods with light at sunrise for beautiful breakfasting.

And it springs back to life in the evening, with its outdoor ‘Ooni 12’ Pizza Oven.

The Future

The Old Post Office evolves continually.

No two stays are exactly the same.

We get better every day.

And we learn – from you.

Reviews help us to understand what works and what matters most.

But most of all, we remember our vision.

We remember what we wrote down.

On day one.

Raise Expectations. Inspire Curiosity. Make Memories.

Downtime is something that most of us shoehorn into life.

And that’s wrong.

Downtime is life.

So in your downtime, it is entirely correct for us to Raise Expectations – and for you to expect more.

It is entirely correct for us to Inspire Curiosity.

To refresh and reignite you.

To take you to spaces and places you’ve never been.

To move you from the world of the probable – to the world of the possible.

And it is entirely correct to acknowledge that when you are with us, we are Making Memories together.

You are sharing with us the most important time of your entire life – your downtime.

And we’re grateful for that.
